The City of Ithaca Water and Sewer Division has announced that Thurston Avenue between Wait and Wyckoff Avenues will be closed 7 am – 3:30 pm, March 22 and March 23, 2017, to install new water service. Access to Risley Hall and Anna Comstock parking lots will be maintained. East- and west-bound traffic can use Wait Avenue to detour around the affected portion of the roadway.
TCAT will provide limited Route 82 service starting at 1:05 p.m. (departing A-Lot) today with trips running every half hour for the remainder of the day. There will be no Route 81 service today. Tonight, Route 11 will run modified service starting from Seneca St. Station at 8:27 p.m.; 9:27 p.m.; 10:27 p.m.; 11:27 p.m.; 12:27 a.m.; and 1:27 a.m. Route 90, 92 and 93 are scheduled to operate regular service tonight. Please check www.tcatbus.com for updates in the event TCAT needs to place Routes 92 and 93 on snow routes. Passengers should expect system-wide delays throughout the day, but should be at their bus stops on time and are advised to dress for the weather.

Winter overnight parking rules are in effect December 1 - April 1, whenever it is snowing, or snow is in the forecast; winter break parking for students is available from December 16 - January 24; and City of Ithaca odd/even parking is in effect from November 1 - April 1. If you arrive on campus after a siginificant snowfall and your parking lot has not been plowed, we recommend parking in either A Lot or B Lot. These large lots are the first to be cleared. Due to severe weather and deteriorating road conditions, TCAT is suspending service until roadways are declared safe and passable. TCAT buses will be stationed at Green St. Station and Seneca St. Station to keep passengers warm. As soon as roads are declared safe and passable, TCAT will make every effort to transport any remaining passengers to their destinations.

As of 10:00 p.m. on February 4, 2017 power has been restored to all buildings on the Ithaca Campus. Cornell Utilities and NYSEG will continue to monitor the power systems. Please report continued on-campus power outages or facility issues to IPP Customer Service at (607)255-5322. No further updates on this outage are expected to be issued. Life threatening emergencies, including persons stuck in elevators, should still be reported to Cornell Police at 607-255-1111 or 911.
At 8:10 PM, electrical service to the Ithaca campus remains limited due to an area power outage. While Utilities is providing power to some facilities using their own generators, NYSEG service has not been fully restored at this time. This remains an in-progress repair.
At 5:45 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2017, IPP Utilities and NYSEG report an electrical outage affecting the entire Ithaca campus and surrounding areas. Crews are assessing the situation and will restore power as soon as possible, but an estimated time of restoration is not yet available. CUPD is aware of the situation. The Utilities Department reports that discolored water in some areas on campus is the result of sediment that has been stirred up. This happens occasionally when water usage increases after periods of reduced demand such as winter break. The water has been tested and is safe. Discolored water is currently being flushed from the system. Please run faucets in buildings until water clears up and please report any discolored water at your location by calling IPP Customer Service at 607-255-5322.
Cornell Utilities is responding to a power outage in the area of Solidago Road affecting the Cornell Grounds building, EH&S, East Campus Fuel Farm, Library Annex, and several other facilities. Buildings without backup generators will be without power while the work is being done. If you have any questions, please call 255-5322.
Due to a large demonstration in the area of Ithaca Commons. The Ithaca City Police department is encouraging people who have to travel in this area to use caution or choose alternate routes.
At 7:30 PM, crews from Cornell Utilities and Grounds are responding to a watermain break near the loading dock of the Cornell Store. Due to the break, domestic water service to Barnes Hall has been interrupted. Water service to Barnes will be restored when the watermain break is repaired. No time frame has been given for the repair to be completed. Further information will be posted if water service to Barnes Hall has not been restored by tomorrow morning, Friday, January 13th. NYSEG crews are responding to a downed utility pole and transformer fire in the Forest Home area. This has resulted in a power outage for about 600 customers. Cornell facilities in the outage area include, but are not limited to, 726 University Ave, Thurston Court Apartments, and the Kahin Center at 640 Stewart Avenue. City of Ithaca Water & Sewer Division crews continue work today on a watermain break that occurred yesterday on Triphammer Road at the intersection of Jessup Road. Crews will be replacing a broken/leaking watermain valve and tee requiring that Triphammer Road be closed to through traffic immediately south of the intersection of Jessup Road and Dearborn Place. The recommended detour for this area is: South bound traffic on Triphammer should turn right (west) on Dearborn Place then left (south) on Wyckoff Ave., then left (east) on either Wait Ave. or Thurston Ave. North bound traffic should use Thurston Ave. then right (north) on Wyckoff Ave., then right (east) on Dearborn Pl. back to Triphammer Road.
